FAQ
When did you start drawing?
I used to take those drawing classes where you sit at a stool and draw random objects placed together like pots, fruits, etc...
I started drawing anime for the first time when I was in grade 7, then dropped it for a year since I got too busy, so after that, I've been drawing anime for about 2-3 years and counting.
How old are you and where are you from?
I will update my age on my IG page. I'm around 15 years at this point in time.
I'm Chinese born in Canada.
What materials do you use?
For traditional: I use a random black gel pen with a fine tip (any cheap pen I can find, sometimes I get M&G from an asian supermarket), and any mechanical pencil that I can find - I liked using .5 lead better than .7
I got a set of copic ciao 36a for Christmas a while ago but I haven't really been using them since I don't really how to, but I'm starting to use them more now.
For digital art: I draw on my computer in Onenote 2016 sometimes when I'm bored, and on my iPad pro 10.5 with an Apple Pencil. I use mostly iBis Paint X and rarely any other apps, but I use Procreate sometimes too. I do not own any Wacom products.
How do I pronounce your alias?
Ahhhhhh - at first I wanted a username that was simple so that it sounds like "shwah" but I decided to stick with shywua.
It's supposed to be said as "SHAI - WOO AH" but you don't break down the syllables as much so you say as one word to make it more fluid :D
How do you price your commissions?
When I price my commissions, it covers a lot of components:
- cat (main reason for commissions, she ain't cheap ;w;)
- art tools and renewal
- recording equipment
- repair for materials
How did you teach yourself how to draw?
I used to reference drawings online to start out, which is a good way to start learning. I also looked for inspiration from some of my favorite artists on Instagram and searched for tutorials online. The best way to improve is to practice, practice, practice.
